starting from age 7 education in classical ballet, modern dance and piano studies at the Vienna State Opera Ballet School as well as in Monte Carlo, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy and USA

dances from 1978 until 1985 with the Ballet Company of Vienna State Opera and Nederlands Dans Theater, Den Haag

1982 starts choreographing, directing his own works for:
Vienna State Opera, Zurich Opera House, Berlin Opera House, Duesseldorf Opera House, Salzburg Festival, EXPO 2000 Hannover, Stadtschouwburg Amsterdam, Nederlands Dans Theatre Den Haag and many other Theatres and Opera Houses within Europe

1991-96 Director of the Ballet Company at the Opera House in Zurich, Switzerland
and 1999-2001 at the Saarländisches Staatstheater, Germany

Composers as Luciano Berio (Italy), Hans Jürgen von Bose (Germany), Olga Neuwirth and Karlheinz Essl (Austria) created new works for him, as well as writer Elfriede Jelinek and Werner Rosendorfer

At the Zurich Opera House Bernd R. Bienert commissioned stage designs from world famous achitects: Renzo Piano, Jean Nouvel, Mario Botta and Aldo Rossi

Bernd R. Bienert also works as stage designer, costume- and lighting designer

Since 1982 he is involved in filming his own works with ORF (austrian television) and other film - and broadcasting networks througout Europe

Bienert just filmed a dance-video-produktion at the exhibition "Zaha Hadid. Architektur 2003" at the MAK-Museum in Vienna, Austria. The music for this production will be composed by Karlheinz Essl. The Worlpremiere will take place at the "Verleihung des Österreichischen Tanzproduktionspreises" Mai 15th 2004.
